This 667+/- acre forested site, which consists of two parcels, is located on the west side of Tomoka Farms Road (County Road 415) north of Pioneer Trail. The smaller parcel (56 acres) has a direct connection to Tomoka Farms Road. The larger parcel (600 acres) lies to the west of the smaller parcel and is square in shape. The existing land use pattern in the general vicinity of the property is comprised of a mixture of agriculture, low density single-family residential, and conservation/open space.

Two (2) major habitat types, wet flatwoods and dome swamp, dominate the Krol property. Slash and pond pines are the dominant trees in the flatwoods. The understory is generally comprised of gallberry, various oaks, palmetto, fetterbush and numerous herbaceous species. The dome swamps are isolated wetland systems, which are dominated by pond cypress. Other species, which may occur, include red maple, swamp laurel oak, cabbage palm, wax myrtle, royal fern and cinnamon fern. Fall flowering ixia, listed as endangered by the State of Florida, has been identified on this property. A significant portion of the property was severely impacted by the wildfires of 1998. Because of the density of palmetto in this area, natural re-establishment of pines may not occur or will be slow.
